PIRI attended meeting from Netherlands Research Integrity Network (NRIN)

🌍 On 1st of May 2025, PIRI joined webinar from NRIN ( Netherlands Research Integrity Network): “Funding through Lottery? What Does It Mean for Research Integrity?”

We explored whether partial lotteries could complement traditional peer review—discussing:
🎲 Potential: Boosting diversity & reducing bias through random allocation.
Challenges: Insights from NWO leadership on funders’ concerns, plus academic perspectives on integrity risks when chance meets merit.

💡 Key takeaway: While lotteries show promise for inclusivity, debates continue. No consensus yet—models need more evidence, public scrutiny, and political engagement.

✨ PIRI stands for innovative, fair funding models. We value every effort to improve research ecosystems!
